The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has developed Cartosat-3, an upgraded Earth observation satellite that will replace the Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (IRS) series. With a high quality resolution of 1 meter and a panchromatic resolution of 0.25 meters, it is one of the imaging satellites with the best resolution in the world at the time of launch. This is a significant improvement over the previous payloads in the Cartosat series.Weather mapping, defense or cartography, and strategic applications are among the possible uses.
