OCO-3 is a space instrument investigating how and where carbon dioxide is distributed on Earth, as it relates to growing urban populations and changing patterns of fossil fuel combustion, and, for the first time, measuring daily variations in carbon dioxide release and uptake by major tropical rainforests.
