SLATS

SLATS - JAXA Satellite

AXA is researching the use of orbits lower than 300km in future Earth observations. This orbit is called ultra-low altitude orbit and is an orbital region that has not been explored by artificial satellites so far. The first Earth observation satellite to use this ultra-low altitude orbit is the Super Low Altitude Test Satellite (SLATS). "Tsubame" will use the ion engine technology that JAXA has cultivated to evaluate the technology for developing ultra-low altitude satellites.
