OHZORA
(EXOS-C) - JAXA Satellite
OHZORA, also known as EXOS-C, was a Japanese scientific satellite launched to study the Earth's magnetosphere and upper atmosphere. OHZORA's primary mission was to investigate the magnetosphere, ionosphere, and the interactions between them. The satellite aimed to enhance the understanding of space weather phenomena and their effects on the Earth's atmosphere and environment.
OHZORA was launched on February 14, 1984, by the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) using the N-II launch vehicle from Tanegashima Space Center. OHZORA was placed into an elliptical orbit, allowing it to pass through different regions of the Earth's magnetosphere. This orbit enabled comprehensive measurements of various space weather phenomena at different altitudes and latitudes.
