Ohsumi

Ohsumi - JAXA Satellite

Ohsumi is Japan's first satellite, launched on February 11, 1970, making Japan the fourth country to launch a satellite into space using its own technology. Ohsumi was primarily an experimental satellite aimed at developing Japan's domestic satellite technology and capabilities. It was part of Japan's efforts to enter the space age and establish itself as a space-faring nation. The success of Ohsumi laid the foundation for Japan's subsequent satellite programs and missions, including communication, weather, and Earth observation satellites.
