The HCA 4-1 from Airbus is a Space Actuator that is based on high torque reaction wheels that has a maximum angular momentum of 4.0 Nms and a maximum reaction torque of 0.980 Nm. This actuator is integrated with digital TM/TC interface based on RS422/485 and performs monitoring and test functions. It has an unregulated 22-38 V power bus interface and has a power consumption of 35.2-47.5 W. The actuator is designed and developed to ensure local speed control which improves performance which simplifies AOCS and possibility to control the wheel. It has a mass of 5.90 Kg and measures 240 x 190 x 150 mm. The actuator features small satellite user fast maneuver capability with enhanced pointing control which makes it ideal for EO applications.
