The NanoCam C1U from GomSpace is a Satellite Camera with a 3 MP color sensor and is designed to be implemented with standard 1 U CubeSats and nanosats. It has 512 MB onboard DDR2 RAM and a solid-state image storage capacity of 2 GB. The camera uses an Aptina MT9T031 digital image sensor that produces color images of up to 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution with 10-bit per pixel ADC resolution. It is based on an Atmel SAMA5D35 processor with the application running on a customized embedded Linux platform. The camera system is tested with industrial format lenses such as 8 mm f/1.4, 35 mm f/1.9, and 70 mm f/2.2 respectively. It supports CAN, I2C, RS-422, and TTL-level serial interfaces. The camera system has a mass of 169-277 g and measures a standard PC/104 size of 96 mm x 90 mm. It is ideal for low-cost earth observation using CubeSats.
