HR04 Image

The HR04 from Honeywell Aerospace is a Satellite Reaction Wheel that is designed for small satellites with a mission life of about 5 years and a storage life of about 1 years. It has a torque of 0.03 Nm and an angular momentum of 1 Nms at a speed of 9000 rpm. This radiation-hardened reaction wheel features a proven spin-bearing design and optimized momentum density packaging. It has a radiation tolerance of greater than 20 Krad (Si) and supports the CAN, LVDS, CMOS and RS-422 digital bus interface for speed and torque command which has high-output, low-jitter performance for precision position and pointing control, plug-and-play ACS insertion, minimized vehicle integration time, and application scalable optimization. The reaction wheel requires a supply voltage of 28 V and has a peak system power consumption of 48 W. It has a mass of less than 2.6 kg and measures 16.0 x 21.2 x12.9 cm in dimension.
