The CUBECAT from AAC Clyde Space is a satellite laser communication terminal with a maximum slant range of 1000 km. It has a peak power consumption of about 15 W and an orbit average consumption of less than 1 W. This CubeCAT laser communication module enables a bidirectional space-to-ground communication link between a CubeSat and an optical ground station, with downlink speeds of up to 1 Gbps and an uplink data rate of 200 Kbps. It requires a DC supply of 5 V and supports USB 3.0 and I2C interface. It has a mass of about 1.33 kg and an onboard buffer size of more than 64 GB. This ITAR-free laser communication terminal measures 96 x 96 x 96 mm and is ideal for CubeSats and small satellites.
