The MiDES-G from Servo Corporation of America is an Earth Sensor with an operational life of 15 years in geostationary earth orbit. This sensor has an accuracy of 0.025 Deg (3σ) and an operational range of 33 deg (Circular). It requires a supply voltage of 28 V and a supply power of less than 4 W. The MiDES Earth sensor supports an RS-422 output digital interface. It is designed to provide horizon position information in two mutually orthogonal axes and its performance is achieved through the use of a multi-pixel detector array. The sensor also features a radiation-hardened microprocessor and a built-in test function. It has a mass of 1.5 Kg and measures 5.25 x 5.25 x 5.07 inches.
