The High-Efficiency Cryocooler (HEC) from Northrop Grumman Corporation is a Cryocooler that has a refrigeration capacity of 2 W (45 K) to 23 W (150 K). This cryocooler requires a compressor input power of up to 180 W and has a reliability of greater than 90 % with up to 10 years of on-orbit operation. Its Pulse Tube design provides very low output vibration of less than 50 mN (drive axis) and 200 mN (pulse tube axis). The cryocooler features active vibration cancellation included in TRL9 designs and supports standard digital interfaces such as RS422 and 1553. It has a low mass of 4.5 Kg (single stage) and 3.8 Kg (electronics). The cryocooler system includes flight electronics and pulse tube cryocooler which are TRL 9 qualified. It is ideal for critical space missions, including climate science, astronomy, and weather tracking and prediction.
