The VES16 cell from Saft is a new Li-ion Satellite cell with a capacity of 4.5 Ah and has a nominal energy range of 16 Wh. The cell features a Nickel Cobalt Aluminium (NCA) positive electrode and a graphite negative electrode and is filled with a LiPF6 based electrolyte. It has individual cell balancing system with high DoD range amd provides long life of up to 18 years in-orbit. This Li-ion cell has a mass of 155 g and measures 33 x 60 mm (Ø x H). It is designed for LEO and small GEO applications.
