Honeywell Aerospace one of the globally recognized leaders in the aviation and aerospace industry, offering innovative solutions and advanced technologies to meet the evolving needs of the aerospace sector has introduced a new reaction wheel assembly for small satellites.
The HR04 from Honeywell Aerospace is a state-of-the-art small satellite class Reaction Wheel Assembly (RWA) that has been designed to offer extreme flexibility in packaging options as well as provide precision RWA performance supported by advanced drive technology in a greatly reduced envelope package.
The reaction wheel assembly incorporates a proven spin-bearing design that produces a momentum of up to 1 Nms (@ 9000 rpm) and net output torque of 0.030 Nms per RWA. It is insensitive to low or transitional operational speeds and comes with optimized momentum density packaging through a high-speed operation.
The HR04 has a minimum mission life of 5 years and has a radiation hardness of up to 20 Krad(Si). It has a peak system power of 48 W (@ 9000 rpm) and a steady state system power of less than 17 W. The reaction wheel assembly supports flexible vehicle digital interface options such as CAN, LVDS, RS422, and CMOS. It has a high output, low jitter performance and is ideal for precision position and pointing control of satellites.
