C3S Introduces a New 3U Satellite Platform for Earth Observation Applications

C3S, a company that develops and manufactures highly dependable 3/6/12/16U platforms and subsystems like OBC, EPS, and communication modules to meet the requirements of IoT, Earth Observation, and space monitoring constellation missions has introduced a new 3U Satellite Platform.

The 3U platform from C3S is a CubeSat platform with a 5-year design lifetime in LEO. It features an in-house developed structure and subsystems based on ECSS standards. The platform is constructed using a single-point failure-tolerant design.

The platform has a mass of 3.3 Kg and measures 100 x 100 x 340.5 mm. It has an average power consumption of 4.5 W and a maximum incoming solar power of 50 W. This platform has a 58 Wh / 65 Wh battery capacity and power buses in the range of 3.3-12V. It uses a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M7 for the onboard computer and has a mass storage capacity of 16 MByte MRAM.

The 3U platform can accommodate payloads of up to 4.7 kg with a volume of 1.25 - 1.4 U. The average power available for the payload is up to 20 W with a peak power of 35W. The platform supports CAN 2.0B and M-LVDS communication interfaces for the payload.

The platform structure is optimized for high dissipation density and thermo-elasticity, both payload and platform-wise. Furthermore, a unique radiator design allows unequaled freedom in payload dissipation along with unprecedentedly high payload power availability.

The 3U platform is SEE radiation tested, TID tested, and vibration tested. It is ideal for applications such as IoT, earth observation, and space weather monitoring.
