Sodern, a space company developing cutting-edge technology for the space, defense, and neutron analysis markets for more than 60 years has introduced a new star tracker specifically designed for the small satellite market.
The Auriga-CP star tracker is packed with the latest high-tech components and is optimized for the small satellite markets of less than 500kg and for New Space projects as of 6U. The star tracker consists of an optical head with baffle protection for direct Sun and Earth illumination and up to 3 Optical Heads may be connected to the spacecraft On Board Computer.
The star tracker features centralized software which is integrated into the spacecraft processor and has an operating frequency of up to 10 Hz according to host processor performances. It consists of an embedded Star Catalog, Algorithms, and Software library inherited from the Hydra Star Tracker.
The Auriga-CP star tracker is radiation-resistant with a thicker casing and spacial optics, that allow a lifetime of over 15 years in geostationary orbit and 10 years in low Earth orbit (LEO 400-1,200km). With its standardized components, it is specifically designed to meet cost reduction objectives while offering excellent technical performance and reliability. Its reduced volume (66 x 59 x 94 mm) and its weight of 225g make it the most compact star tracker in its category.
The Auriga-CP is flight proven since 2019 with over 1,000 Auriga in orbit and a mission success rate of 100%.
