GomSpace, one of the global leading manufacturers and suppliers of CubeSat and small satellite solutions for customers in the academic, government, and commercial markets has introduced a new high-performing camera system for earth observation projects.
The NanoCam C1U system from GomSpace is a flexible and modular system to rapidly implement tailored imaging systems based on customer requirements. It is an off-the-shelf configuration consisting of a lens, lens table, image acquisition, processing board, and software.
It features an integrated system with an industrial lens, a 3-megapixel color sensor, and advanced data processing with onboard storage. The NanoCam C1U consists of a 1/2" (4:3) format color CMOS sensor with a 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution and a 10-bit RGB Bayer pattern.
The camera system has a high-performance ARM processor for data processing and 512 MB onboard DDR2 RAM and 2 GB solid-state image storage. It supports CSP-enable CAN, I2C, and TTL level serial interfaces and a serial port with a text-based console for debugging.
NanoCam C1U has been designed to be implementable in a standard 1U CubeSat structure together with GomSpace’s on-board computers, attitude control system, radio transceiver, and power products to allow low-cost Earth observation using CubeSats.
