SES's seventh and eighth O3b mPOWER satellites have arrived at Cape Canaveral where they will be readied for launch by SpaceX in December.
Both satellites feature redesigned payload power modules and will join the first six O3b mPOWER satellites already operating in medium earth orbit (MEO). The two additional satellites will bolster the second-generation MEO system, enabling it to continue delivering high-quality connectivity services required by customers across multiple market segments at scale.
O3b mPOWER, owned and operated by SES, is an advanced communications satellite system. It leverages high-throughput, low-latency satellites in medium Earth orbit (MEO), supported by ground infrastructure and intelligent software. This system delivers multi-terabit global broadband connectivity, serving various applications such as cellular backhaul, international IP trunking, cruise line connectivity, disaster recovery, and military communications.
SES has been deploying O3b mPOWER services worldwide since April 2024, with the system’s core infrastructure deployed, tested, and in use globally.
