The first five commercial satellites in AST SpaceMobile's broadband constellation that is compatible with cellphones will be launched on this mission. In collaboration with mobile network operators (MNOs), they will offer smartphone connectivity while in orbit.For the SpaceMobile constellation, the satellites connect to cellphones in space using AST & Science's unique technologies. To connect directly to conventional mobile phones, each satellite will deploy a 10 m diameter phased array antenna with an area of 64 m squared, made up of several identical sub-antenna modules.
