Propellant Mass Fraction Calculator
A propellant (or propellent) is a mass that is expelled or expanded in such a way as to create a thrust or other motive force in accordance with Newton's third law of motion. The propellant mass fraction is the ratio between the propellant mass and the initial mass of the vehicle.

The destination for a spacecraft is often an orbit, whereas for an aircraft it is the place they will land. Less weight is carried by a design with a larger mass fraction. The payload fraction, which is the portion of starting weight that is payload, is another comparable metric. It can be used with a car, a vehicle stage, or a rocket propulsion system.
