United Launch Alliance is the creator and operator of the heavy-lift, expendable, two-stage-to-orbit Vulcan VC0S launch vehicle (ULA). The National Security Space Launch (NSSL) program of the US Space Force, which launches satellites for the Defense Department and US intelligence agencies, is the program for which it is primarily intended. It will take the place of ULA's current Atlas V and Delta IV Heavy heavy-lift rockets. Additionally, Vulcan VC0S will be utilized for commercial launches; Kuiper Systems has placed an order for 38 missions.
