The three-stage Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) is designed with three stages of solid propulsion and a terminal stage called the Velocity Trimming Module (VTM), which is based on liquid propulsion. The lift off weight of the 2 m diameter, 34 m length SSLV is around 120 tons. From SDSC/SHAR, SSLV can launch a satellite weighing about 500 kg into a 500 km planar orbit. The main advantages of SSLV are its low cost and quick turnaround time, flexibility in supporting several satellites, possibility of launch on demand, low launch infrastructure requirements, etc.
