As the first European launch provider, HyImpulse is creating a revolutionary three-stage smallsat launch vehicle with hybrid rocket engines to deliver satellites weighing up to 600 kg into a dedicated Earth orbit. The hybrid rocket motors are particularly well-suited for a quick launch into the market at a very cheap propellant (liquid oxygen and paraffin) cost. The launch service can operate in a flexible and safe manner thanks to the hybrid propulsion. The hybrid rocket motor powering the sounding rocket will serve as the foundation for the SL1. This kind of motor will be used in twelve pieces for each SL1, enabling hardware to be produced in serial quantities. A recently created liquid oxygen turbopump system will complete the propulsion system.
