Atlas 5

Atlas 5

Company: United Launch Alliance

The fifth major generation of the Atlas launch vehicle family, the Atlas-5 is an expendable launch system. United Launch Alliance (ULA), a joint company between Lockheed Martin and Boeing, is currently in charge of operating it after Lockheed Martin designed it first. NASA, the DoD, and commercial missions all use it. America's oldest operational rocket is this one. Following 87 launches, ULA declared in August 2021 that Atlas-5 would be retired, with the 29 launches that remained having been sold. There are still 17 launches as of January 2024. The new Vulcan Centaur rocket will be used for such ULA flights in the future.
