Beidou M4, a Chinese navigation satellite, was launched from Xichang on 29 April 2012 by a Long March 3B rocket. China launched two navigation satellites on this mission, Beidou M3 and Beidou M4. This is the first time China launched a dual-satellite primary payload into high-altitude orbit. A dual-payload adapter was developed to launch the satellites one on top of the other inside the Long March nose fairing.
