Beidou 1C was a Chinese (PRC) geostationary navigational satellite that was launched by a Long March 3A rocket from Xichang launching center in Sichuan province on 24 May 2003. It joined two others, Beidou 1A and Beidou 1B, that were launched in 2000 and enabled a viable global positioning constellation. Besides enabling positioning, it was to be used in weather monitoring and telecommunications.
